Primary Care Associates® center take urgent care to a new level by offering additional on-site services such as ECGs and rapid tests, improved wait times, speedier visits, and treatment from a highly trained, medical staff. Is Urgent Care the Same as Emergency Care?

It is important to note that urgent care is not emergency care. While we can handle many medical situations, you should still call 911(166 is the Greek one) in the event of a life-threatening emergency.

Telemedicine and the broader concept of Telehealth involves the use of electronic communication to provide diagnosis and/or clinical care, advice and information from the medical provider to the patient or care-giver in a remote location.

Our Medical Advice At Sea is the result of several years’ experience in formulating medical management protocols specifically designed for the maritime community’s singular needs. We are expert in remotely evaluating shipboard injury and illness. We are adept in advising the ship’s captain as to whether onboard treatment is sufficient and consistent with the highest quality care necessary, or if land-based treatment and/or emergency evacuation or deviation is required. We advise and assist , around the clock , the ship’s captain with onboard diagnosis and treatment options .

In many instances, we are able to remotely diagnose and advise the Captain how to treat the seafarer onboard the vessel, using the ship’s medicine chest. Together with the Captain’s and the crewman’s unanimous agreement, frequently are able to clear the seafarer to return to duty, without ever leaving the ship. This result not only provides the mariner with peace of mind, it saves the shipowner the considerable costs associated with shoreside medical treatment, including medical provider fees, transportation and labor down time, some or all of which may be direct out-of-pocket expenditures.

By providing immediate medical diagnosis and treatment advice to the ship’s Captain our Medical Advice At Sea promotes crew health and saves the shipowner money below his insurance deductible or that is otherwise non reimbursable. When medically appropriate, treating shipboard injury or illness onboard can shorten recovery time, postpone or eliminate the necessity of shore-side treatment, and avoid costly and unnecessary deviation or emergency evacuations.

Unlike free government telemedical services, or some of those run by individual hospitals, our service is far more efficient & cost effective.  Our follow up assures that the seafarer’s medical treatment is managed from onboard the ship to the hospital through repatriation and convalescence.

Our Medical Advice at Sea reduces the shipowner’s overall medical claims cost, both below and above the insurance deductible. We reduce costly litigation through improving the speed and quality of medical care provided to the shipowner’s crew.

Doctor’s services

Duty doctor

The doctors who staff our duty team live locally in Greece. Most of the duty doctors are GPs who have completed supplementary courses and received training in acute medical aid.

Our duty doctors provide continuous coverage (24/7-365) on the basis of our own shift plans. Our doctors are available to provide professional medical advice and assist platform medical staff with treatment. In addition, our duty doctors can be contacted via the company’s emergency response and HSE organization.

Operator Supervisor Doctor

The role of the Operator Supervisor Doctor is to assure that the company is in compliance with the applicable legislation and regulations regarding the health contingency programs, and with regard to sub-suppliers to the operator company. This doctor has a general role based on supervision in the area of general health and safety.

Emergency response doctor

Primary Care Associates provides second line emergency response doctor services. The assignments are aligned with the client’s key processes. The primary task is to coordinate the healthcare-related logistics in connection with major incidents and accidents. The doctors are based in the client’s second line emergency response centre.
